We Welcome You

Nestled on four wooded acres high above Jérémie Bay in remote southwest Haiti, Place Charmant is a living labor of love under the care of your hosts, Bette and Edwin Magloire and their daughter, Danielle.

Relax among the tropical grounds that feel more like an arboretum than a guest center. Around every corner, the indigenous flora gives way to the clear Caribbean waters far below.

Families are welcome at Place Charmant guest houses and apartments, and the grounds are filled with native fruit trees to discover. We make our own peanut butter and serve local coffee that's ground on the premises to enhance your taste of Haiti!

At Your Service

Whether a single room or our penthouse, all room rates include breakfast and a family-style supper. Most special dietary requests can be honored, and we have one room accessible to the disabled.

We offer special rates for mission groups and stays of a month or longer.

We're also able to assist with transportation. Airport transfers can be arranged, as can rental vehicles and drivers. Ask about excursions to Anse d'Azur beach, Marfranc Fort, Bonbon Beach, or other local favorites. We also have selected historical articles and books – available in English and French.

Don't speak Creole? We can also connect you with local translators. Or, Creole lessons are available by the hour.

Your Comfort Is Our Goal

The staff at Place Charmant offers attentive touches to ensure your comfort throughout your stay. And, with choices of local and continental cuisine, you’ll have both a taste of Haiti and a taste of home.

Short- and long-term guests have included global aid volunteers, senior United Nations  and military personnel, filmmakers and internationally known musicians, vacationers, government officials from many nations, and university students, faculty, and researchers.

Let your hosts at Place Charmant take care of your needs to ensure that you enjoy a respite from your travels in Haiti.
